Sorry, I Fibbed. More Classroom Decorations! Owl Lanterns!

I know that I stated that I was finished with my classroom decorations, but my daughter showed me the cutest owl made from a Japanese lantern created by Jill at Meet the Dubiens.  I couldn't resist, so I made my own version of this sweet owl lantern to hang in my classroom.

To make these adorable owls, I simply used my circle cutter to cut circles for the eyes from craft foam.  Then I drew the beak and feet on orange foam and cut out.  I used pretty scrapbook paper to draw and cut out the wings and ears.  Finally, I used a hot glue gun to apply. (Check out Jill's blog for great instructions.)  I hope you like them as much as I do!

They look so adorable!

I am now waiting for the arrival of my new set of 4th graders! (only 14 more days!)  I sincerely believe that my classroom decorating is now complete.  On to the important task of lessons and lesson plans!

I'm linking up with Tara at Fourth Grade Frolics for Made It Monday.

  4. How cute is that!?! LOVE it! I wish we could hang lanterns from our ceilings but fire code prohibits anything hung from the ceiling. I'm sure I could find another location though:)

  11. I just made some owl paper lanterns last night!!! I hate to admit, but I think yours are cuter than mine...oh well...that's ok. Knowing my luck, they'll always be turned around the wrong way and you'll only see the back of them anyway! LOL

  12. Thank you, but I bet yours are adorable! You are right about them being turned the wrong way. They never seem to be facing the direction I would like for them to. I still love them anyway! Thank you for following! I'm headed to your blog now.

  15. Kelly,

What did you use to measure the eyes, wings, and feet? I don't want them to be too small...lol

  16. I just drew them out by hand. Sorry, I didn't use a pattern.
